Biography:
Sine Lam is an emerging visual artist currently based in Ontario, CA. She studied Fashion Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Fine Art at St. Lawrence College. Her artistic practice blends symbolism, realism, and surrealism, focusing on the subtle ways human emotions, memories, and the passage of time shape our experience. Her series, Passage of Time, reflects the quiet tension and fleeting moments of city life, exploring presence, absence, and the traces left behind. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions, including at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery at St. Lawrence College. Through her ongoing practice, She continues to examine the emotional and philosophical layers of lived experience, inviting viewers to encounter the delicate intersections of memory, space, and human connection.
Statement:
My art often carries hidden messages through symbolic elements. Inspired by nature, urban solitude, human emotion, and time. I am drawn to exploring themes of contrasts and contradictions – visually beauty yet quite melancholic; relaxation paired with loneliness, much like life itself, where joy and sorrow coexist. I work with painting, drawing, and mixed media, embracing multiple perspectives in life and finding beauty in imperfection. Through my series "The Passage of Time," I depict urban loneliness and searching for belongings in a constantly changing world, evoking feelings of helplessness and uncertainty. Expressing emotions that underneath the surface of a bustling environments. Reflecting little happiness and little joy in the fast-paced city life. Moving forward, I will continue exploring the deep connection between humans and nature for reflection and introspection.
